72. Today’s music clip is by way of a “hello!” across the Atlantic to fellow musicians & music devotees in New York, USA. Scottish Jazz Space’s main writer (FM) has musical links to this city & its music industry – as elsewhere – is being seriously affected by the current pandemic . We feature a fine classical & jazz guitarist who is based on Staten Island, musician & teacher Rich Peare. On solo guitar, the well-known samba ‘A Day in the Life of a Fool’.

67. So today’s pick for Scottish Jazz Space’s Quarantine Series is perhaps one mostly for the drummers and Ligeti (pere et fils) fans out there. The complex elegance of Gyorgi Ligeti’s ‘Hungarian Rock’, as transcribed and played by Scottish drummer Rich Kass. Brilliant.

66. Whilst the Youtube video of this fantastic Scottish big band playing to a boisterous crowd is a joy to see, the sound quality on Soundcloud is superior, so it’s the latter we have here. The Loveboat Big Band’s rambunctious rendition of the Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams’.

65. Thanks to the quarantine most of us are currently seeing more of the inside of our houses than usual. Sophie Bancroft’s lovely song ‘Home’ feels apt.
