101. Pianist, composer & arranger Paul Harrison has already featured in Scottish Jazz Space’s quarantine series, however judging by the two tracks already available to hear on Bandcamp, his new, home-produced digital album ‘Adventures From Home’ is definitely worthy of separate mention. Due for release on 1st September, this is one not to miss. Here is his very lovely interpretation of Egberto Gismonti’s ‘Loro’.

100. Scotland being the size it is probably encourages the frequent collaborations between jazz and roots/ trad musicians, with many individual musicians adept across genres. 98. Edinburgh-born, Livingston-bred John Rae has had such a long & distinguished drumming career, that this humble drummer has spent much of the last several days checking out his back catalogue. For the last decade he’s lived in Wellington, New Zealand & the featured track today is a recent recording there. This listener had an image of a candyfloss machine, as his confection of drums emerges at 1.42, in The Earl of Seaforth’s Salute. Brilliant.
